Profile

I received a bachelor’s degree in social work from Eastern Nazarene College and a master’s degree in social work from West Virginia University. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker [#LC3505] in the State of Maine.

I have worked in a variety of settings during my career including home-based counseling for at-risk families and elders, as a social worker for hospice, in an oncology clinic, and in a hospital. I have had a private counseling practice for almost 20 years.

Each day is different, bringing its own challenges and successes as I work with people who are determined to feel better and improve their lives.

Affiliations and Certifications

I am a Wellspring Counseling affiliate, and a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors.

I am trained and certified through the EMDR Institute to provide treatment using EMDR.

I participate monthly in 2 peer conferencing groups. One is focused on enhancing skills in EMDR – Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (now you see why it’s referred to by the initials!) and the second is a group of local therapists who meet to discuss challenging issues in counseling and managing a counseling practice.

Personal

I am married with 2 adult children and enjoy spending time with them and their families. My favorite place is Acadia National Park. I like to kayak, watercolor, and I know my way around a sewing machine. My faith is an integral part of my life.

I am on the board of directors for the Romanian Studies Program and have spent a semester in Sighisoara, Romania supervising social work students as they studied and served in that culture. It was a wonderful experience that I found challenging both personally and professionally.
